Letting the "spoiled, rich Americans" do it brings very much needed money to an economy that doesn't have a lot of resources. You sound like you're just jealous! She has a good reputation and there's NO REASON to let a "pro" do it!

Biggest reason all these efforts are needed is because we (mankind) screwed up the environment Michigan has more deer running around now than when the Mayflower landed on our shores... because we have to "manage" them... Good business ALWAYS justifies everything no matter what. It's all about the $$$$$.

Michigan and New England have huge surpluses of deer. But, I think it is more about "don't k**l Bambi" than anything!

Interesting to note that those who have the fewest facts seem to have the loudest voices. A little research would show that the death of this old creature ensured life for many others - animal and human.

I hope all of those who expressed outrage at hunting enjoy their soyburgers and kale salad on the 4th.

It’s trooh hunting people are outraged about.

First I would like to say that I am one of those Liberals that have been smashed in this thread.

I grew up in a hunting family. As such I have learned to respect the wildlife resource. While I have never been to Africa or other country to hunt I have been an active h****r much of my life. I have also worked in the field as an Fish and Game technician. When I was in the field I witnessed first hand the effects of over population of a wild stock in the environment. When all the feed is used up the population goes down, because the wild populations starve to death. This is not a pretty sight. Hunting is one way to help keep a balanced population. Yes, before h****rs came into the scene the native stocks had highs and lows depending on the cycles of the environment, but it was not perturbed by the vulgarities of man. If one looks at the situation in any part of the world the problem that wildlife has is the encroachment of man. In many parts of the world the true effects was not noticed because it happened several hundred years ago. We are bemoaning the k*****g of a few animals in managed areas without consideration of what damage is being done by poachers in general and ranchers who want to k**l, for example, wolves because they are taking a few of their livestock. We forget that many of these magnificent animals were here keeping the natural balance long before the white man invaded their environment. The removal of wild stocks in many cases is because man, ranchers and farmers, wants the land for their own use. In the west a good example is the wild horses that are rounded up and kept in government pens at great expense. While man reintroduced horses to north america they became part of the natural environment. Again we have decided that we, as a population, want the grazing area for our cattle. Yet we, as an american population, do not want to hunt them or use them as a food source. Just pen them up and let them waste away.

What I do not approve of are trophy h****rs in this country who go to game ranches to bag a trophy and do not take the meat. These 'h****rs' only want the head to put on their walls. The saving grace is the ranches usually save the meat and donate it to organizations that use it to feed the under privileged. The managed hunts that are taking place in South Africa is attempting to keep the balance so the populations are preserved. While we may bemoan the k*****g of a given specimen it is important to remember that the meat is used by the local population that in many cases gives them a source of protein with out having to poach an animal that may be more important to preserving the population.

The next time you sit down to a hamburger or a steak or a pork chop or a fish dinner or a thanksgiving turkey or fried chicken remember that someone had to k**l that animal for you. If you do not want animals k**led, a cow or a pig or any other fish or fowl, do not go to the store and assume that it is a product what was not a living breathing thing before it was so neatly packaged for you. You are responsible for its death even though you did not directly pull the trigger. There should be a law if you eat meat, fish or fowl of any other description, you should be responsible for its gathering and processing at some point in your life. It might give everyone a different outlook on the entire process.

Donald Junior and Eric Trump spent a week in the Zimbabwean bush in August 2010, and are pictured standing next to trophy k**ls of a Cape buffalo, a waterbuck, a leopard, a civet cat, a crocodile and a kudu.

In one photograph, Donald Junior, 34, stands beside the corpse of an elephant, holding a knife in one hand and its severed tail in another.

Their trip was organised by Hunting Legends, a South African company that specialises in big game hunting safaris across Africa tailored for wealthy clients in Europe, the Middle East and the US.

While its cost is unknown, a day's hunting and a Kudu k**l comes to just under £3,000.

On its website, one of the company's tour guides complemented the boys on having "the precision of a true marksman".

Many posting about this situation are ignorant of wildlife management and what the h****r does and means to these efforts. Many species of wildife have been brought back to healthy populations because of regulated hunting (licenses and tags). I fnot for the h****r there would be no money to manage wildlife (non-game species too) as has been pointed out already the money h****rs contribute through self-imposed taxes (1937 Pittman-Robertson Act or the the Wildlife Restoration Act). Habitat is one key element to keeping wildife at healthy populations. I would strongly suggest that the best way to restore wildlife populations is to have a regulated hunting season for that animal.

I apologize--I h**e it when political discussions resort to name calling as it's counter productive in so many ways and just unnecessary. I also accept that my flying half way around the world to shoot animals, people and scenery (camera only) makes me a spoiled rich American too. I do, however, believe that it is wrong to travel half way around the world to k**l an animal for any reason just because you can afford to. In general I believe it perpetuates the "Ugly American" image and I do not believe that type of travel really spreads much money to the local people or helps conserve the animals. The way I travel may not either but I stay at local camps and small local hotels and use local guides which does bring money to the people although there is always room for improvement.

Also, I did not suggest that a "pro" handle the k*****g--that implies hiring someone from the outside. Almost all the parks in Africa have rangers who protect the animals and manage them and who will euthanize (shooting included) animals when it is necessary. That is a lot different from someone doing it in the name of sport.
