I think it's ridiculous what these guys get paid, not just B-ball, all professional athletes. When Police and teachers, and a whole host of other people, health care workers have to work 2 jobs just live above the poverty level. I think he should pay 90% and he would still be a millionaire.

It's human nature. We are so fascinated by our ability to fantasize and place ourselves in virtual reality and to have our heroes that we even pay for it. A film can make 100's of millions of dollars to indulge our fantasies. Why not sports heroes? They are well compensated for the physical torment they dedicate themselves to in order to entertain us. I don't begrudge them their income.

High wage earners in CA pay 9.3% in income taxes. Those earning over a million dollars pay a surcharge of 1% after 1 million dollars. LeBron will pay about 15 million dollars in income tax to California over the next four years. That's on top of a statewide 7.5% sales tax.

LOL!

Isn't greed (on the part of both Lebron and California) a wonderful thing??!! My comment is sarcasm by the way.

He is paid big bucks due to the money he and his image will generate for others through advertising, clothing sales, ticket sales and anything with his name or photo on it. He is a product adults AND children will pay for with and purchase any trinket or food product that is connected to him. Primarily men and boys will be the easy targets. It is all sales & marketing. He is just a well paid marketing tool/pawn. It doesn't need to be a person, sometimes a marketing tool can simply be words like --- "Where's the beef?" or "I'll be back", "Go ahead punk, make my day", "Go for it!". It is all about the money. It has nothing to do with his skill, or sports at all. Just my two cents.

I never liked basketball and stopped watching most sports except for college football. As far as I’m concerned, they are all overpaid

Nebuch! (Yiddish for “alas,” frequently sarcastic. Not here, of course!) 🤔

The NBA guarantees a league average of 15 players on each roster. The average salary for NBA players is $6.39 million. Multiplied by 15, that's $89.46 million. How much is ownership making if they can pay that kind of average salary?

Pro athletes (and actors, for that matter) get the big bucks because they put butts in the seats and sell a lot of products. They are just getting a cut of income they generate. Compare that to CEOs, who often get paid a fortune even if their companies aren't very profitable. They can leave companies they have run into to ground with golden parachutes.

And to think I would have been content to just win the Publishers Clearing House $1,000/day for life. I stopped being a professional sports fan years ago when baseball went on strike and it was revealed the average player earned
over $1,000,000/year.

He's going to need gardeners and maids for his gated estate and he can save a few bucks in Calif.
