When touring out of the country, make sure you have the appropriate coins handy or forever hold your pee.

Good suggestion!

If there's a McDonalds around, that should be free. If nothing else, buy a drink and have more a "desire". LoL

The slot looks big enough to take folded up paper money.
But yeah, good idea to carry at least a few coins when traveling in a foreign country.

Now we know why there is more infectious disease in other countries for the most part. (In part only of course.)

Yes, McDonald's free if you buy something. Don't lose that receipt, though. There is a "toilet police" (although not always) at the door checking for receipt. Also, get used to (very) tight spaces (including the entrance to toilet) while you're there.

In Paris, you can stop by any cafe and just order a cup of coffee (other drinks) and you're good "to go." You can even sit outside and "people watch" all day long and no one would bother you. Tipping? What's that?

Tough to do sometimes. Waiting in line for a drink will just make it worse! That's similar to nearing the end of travel. All needed is to think about my house a mile or so away and the body goes into "hurry up" mode!

At one time we had pay toilets in California, but March Fong Eu, our State Attorney General at the time outlawed them. Seems to me their is a public health issue when people can not get to a toilet when they need one.

Is it time for a prostate check up, may be? Just a thought.

In some European cities there might be a free - or almost free public transportation (bravo), but the toilets are coin operated.
I still have some coins left in my pockets from a recent trip.

That photo was taken in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. But, to the best of my knowledge, no difference in other European countries. If you forget to bring coins for toilet use but happen to be with a tour group and no McDonald's/Starbucks or local cafe around, don't be so shy to ask one of tour mates for a Euro coin. Chances are, one of them can spare you a nifty fifty (not talking about a type of lens).

Amsterdam, beautiful city. Lots of flowers. Lots of history. Experience riding the boat going through different canals. But they stop running at 6:00 pm. Don't get lost in redlight district (or may be you'd want to). For the arts and photo connoisseurs in you, the Van Gogh Museum is right in the heart of the city. You can take photos all you want as long as you don't use flash. And, they mean it. They'll warn you once and second time, out the door. Fast lens only.
