You might just be better off going in the opposite direction. Instead of locking it down tight to the building look at something like a electric gumball. Just make sure it will operate with the weight of your camera. For a cheap one....something like

Good suggestion. Did a quick search on the internet and found all sorts of vibration dampening devices. Think I'll order four of the small rubber cylinder shaped types with bolts imbedded into each end. That should allow the mounting of a parallel plate on top of the solid mount plate securely bolted to the building. If it works it will certainly be easy and inexpensive.

Several types for sale are designed for mounting sensitive electronic measuring equipment - should be adequate for electronically operated photographic equipment too. Thank you!
