Help!!!! canon 430ex ii problems

I have a canon 430ex ii have had no problems with !!!!!! cut it on today and when I push the red lite button it jst flickers a couple seconds and thats it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can any one tell me whats wrong????? thanks for any help you all can give. :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Does it also "buzz" while it flickers? Have you been playing with the custom functions? I ask because I also had a problem with mine. I finally discovered I had set the custom function for the modeling flash to activate by the test button--the red "ready" light. Every time I pushed that button I got a couple of seconds of "strobe" effect and a buzzing. Very disconcerting.
I don't have my flash or manual with me, but it is fairly straightforward. There is also a way to reset all custom functions to factory default.

I had the very same problem. Sometimes it did it on my camera.. Sent it to Canon and they said it was fine... hmm? I put it on a new 7D and it worked fine. I wonder if it is the rechargeable batteries..
