About me:
After high school enlisted in the navy(1944-1946), Went to college(BS in civil engineering), got married to my college sweetheart, became a pipeline contractor( hence my title), had 4 great kids, an airplane, a boat on lake mead—-a great life! Now I’m 92 years old, my friends are all dead, my wife of 67 years passed away last year and my airplane and boat are long gone—-sometimes you live too long! UHH to the rescue! I stumbled on this site and have become really interested in photography. My previous experience was looking at pretty pictures and occasionally buying one of those cardboard cameras at the drug store
(remember those?) and snapping my own family portraits.
About 6 months ago I became so enthusiastic I bought a point and shoot pocket camera—-a Sony HX90V and my picture taking improved. This gave me GAS as you hogs call it. Now I’ve upgraded to a Sony RX10IV and a book by Alexander White. Thanks, also, to all you experts who are willing to share your knowledge with us newbies—-now I get up in the morning with something to look forward to.
ps: I don’t have a tripod yet. I don’t have a pp program other than Memories Home which came with the camera. I only have my old flip phone—-I’ll have to work on those things. I think I’m doing quite well learning the various modes and menus. From here on everything’s go!
