I have 7 to 10 Thousand 35mm Slides to go over and pick out the best ones to scan. You-all have some ideas.

I use the following setup:

Nikon D5300
Nikon Micro 40mm 1/2.8 G
Nikon ES-1 slide holder
Satco 500 lumens 5000k bulb
Bulb holder with rotary switch

The slide was shot with 1/100s f/4.5 ISO 200 maul focus

Slide was not cleaned before scan, there are still some specks visible in the shot.

Stunning improvement after Lightroom. Nice setup.

I agree that the Nikon ES-2 with the 60mm Nikon macro lens is an awesome combination. It is far faster than scanning with my Nikon LS dedicated slide/film scanner which is going up for sale!

Thank you for the compliment. I still need to work on some improvements, taping the focus ring so it doesn't move, fixing the slide holder do it doesn't rotate when changing slides and tests on the best shooting parameters. I noticed that when I pixel peep the final work, it seems grainy. Not sure if it is in the slide or can something I introduced. Need to run some more tests.

Most scanners should have a negative selection that does the conversion.

And I response to question why not using a camera to copy the negative not about using a scanner. Of course I know that the Nikon D850 has software to do that too but I guess not everyone has one.
