Just a few photos captured 2 weeks ago in Great Smoky Mountains NP. Filtration was done in Photoshop. The clouds rolling across the mountains are amazing.
Nice looking shots. Monochrome really works well for these.
Beautiful!! Did you use the filtration on the skies or the whole photo?
Nice shots--you had clouds, but we had fog--lots of it.

Beautiful. Hoping to get there myself in the near future.

Great shots. I've driven the road through the Smoky Mountains and it is a great ride with lots of opportunities for great shots. You've done well with your shots. All of mine are in color and it never occurred to me to make them B&W. It really works.
Beautiful shots of one of my favorite places.
One of the best B&W rendering I have had to opportunity to view, great job.

Attractive images, nice contrast and details.
Could you repost these in color? I love the smokies and go every fall and know where everyone of these were taken. It would be appreciated.

Great job on these! My favorite is number 3. Those trees up front really give this image depth. Grandpaw

Outstanding Capture and Post Processing.
Nicely done, Robert. Lots of texture and beautiful contrast.

Thanks, Fergus. In post-processing I applied a green filter, which lightened the foilage, enabling a more robust decrease in sky intenisty, which highlighted the contrast with the clouds. Of course Photoshop provides much more critical manipulation than ever possible with just color filters on monochromatic film. The control and options we now have are fantastic, but it makes you appreciate the incredible skill and artistry of the Ansel Adams and Edward Westons using technology crude by our standards. They taught us just how powerful photography could be. I am still inspired by their haunting images.
