Flatbed Scanner needed

I asked a simaler question months earlier and have not been able to get the answer I need. Two days spent searching the internet and manufactures websites have turned up nothing, well almost nothing except a $1000.00 Fujitsu model.

I need to replace my water damaged office equipment, one item was a long bed scanner. That is one with a 8.5 x 14" bed.
I need to be able to scan historical archive documents, thus the need for a flatbed.

I cannot find any, does anyone know of one???

Please don't say Epson V600, I know how great it is but it is not long enough.

Thanks,
Ken

This is a home model. I'm sure if you need something more rugged you can find one if you search Epson's long list of scanners. This one DOES do 8x14.

Steve, I looked at it, but the flatbed is only 11 inches. Too short.
Thanks for the reply.

Hamltnblu, I will have to call and find out what size the glass is. Maybe it will work,
Thanks for the reply,

Here's a link to the epson manual. It may have an 11x17 if I'm reading it right. (Page 325)

Looking at the text, that may be correct.
Thank you,

I just read the part that said it scanned documents up to 8 1/2 X 14. I didn't look to see what the bed size was. I would imagine, though, in that long list of Epson scanners that there must be one that would be long enough. When I checked "scanners" it pulled up a long list. I didn't check out every one.

In my area we have a bunch of charity second hand stores. Each of them have scanners and printers for practically nothing. You may have to get a couple before getting one that works well but that's still only a small amount of money.

Ken. You didn't mention which manufacturer and model your old water damaged was. Perhaps a Hogger has one for sale? Have you tried eBay or Craigslist? I justed checked with eBay and there are many listed including older Microtek 8.5x14 scanners and oversized A3 tabloid (12x17) for very reasonable prices or for bidding: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=11x14+flatbed+scanner&_sacat=0
Cheers. Ed

I solved the it! Back at Office Depot again today to look at replacement desks. Looking at the scanners on display I found an HP professional model, 7740 that will work. When I asked the sales people if they had a scanner that would take a 14 inch paper they all said no. Little do they know.
I am not an HP fan but the price is good, for it's designed market the build quality should be better and it will solve my printer requirements also.
A few years ago I worked as a copy writer for a major catalog company. One of the requirements was the copy and specs had to inform the customer of everything he needed to know to make a purchase decision. They did not want unnecessary tech questions plugging up the phone lines. Oh, how I wish printer and scanner manufactures understood such a simple concept.

Thank you everyone.

If you cannot get the correct length scanner, get a standard, and some photostitch software. Scan the top of the document first, then put the bottom of the document against the bottom of the scan bed glass, and scan that. Stitch the two together with the photo stitch software. I used to do this all the time with a Canon 4400 12 inch scan bed scanner. I had a business as a technical documentation consultant.
