I don't believe you can. I think PSE10, or any program, has to be installed on the same drive as your OS (Operating System).

Yes, I believe that you can install PSE10, or any program, on more than one computer. When you purchase the program and read the fine print, I believe you will see that you have the right to use it for your own use, on two separate computers.

IF you install it onto an external hard drive, and from there to two computers, you are legally allowed to do that.
As for downloading the program to more than two, you may be prohibited from doing so.

Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought you wanted to run PE10 from your external hard drive on different computers, without having to load the program on the new computer. I don't believe this is possible. You would have to load the program on the host computer in order for the operating system to recognize it. You would be able to carry the program around with you (DVD, thumb drive, etc) and load it onto different computers. I believe Adobe sets the limit at 2 different computers, but check with Adobe. The CS programs are limited to two different computers.

Restating my earlier reply, I don't believe you can do what you want. The OS on the computer will be unable to access the program on your external hard drive. PE10 has to be installed on the computer being used in order for the OS to access the program. If this were not true, any program could be put on any portable hard drive and be used anywhere by any OS.

Hello Les,
To answer your question about installing PSE10 on an external drive, the answer is yes. Now, if you take that external drive to a different machine it will NOT run. Reason being that when the program is installed on the original machine, changes are also made to its Registry that it needs in order to execute on that machine. The other machine at work or wherever does not have those changes in its Registry, so it cannot run.
I'm not sure that you will understand what I have said, but just understand that it will not run.
As mentioned, you can always install the app on multiple pcs.

Just a reminder - if you decide to remove it from the external drive, be sure to deactivate it so you can install it somewhere else. Have multiple copies of your activation code in various places - including on paper.

Those that tell you that you cannot install it on the external hard drive and then move the hard drive from machine to machine are correct. However, here is how you can accomplish what you are trying to do.
Install pse-10 on every computer that you may want to use (this should be easy for home and at work, perhaps not so easy if at a friend's house). But, save all of the photos on the external hard drive. Now you can open and edit photos from any computer you have installed pse-10 on by just plugging in your external drive.

Isn't there a limit of two computers? PS and LR have that limit.
