On April 18, 1942, four months and eleven days after Pearl Harbor, 16 Mitchell bombers took off from the deck of the U.S.S. Hornet under the command of Lt. Colonel James Doolittle and bombed Tokyo and other locations in Japan. The raid was not so much a tactical victory, but it was a huge psychological victory. In June of 1942, the United States Navy won a decisive and turning point victory over the Japanese in the Battle of Midway.

Nice shot Rob. I had a Revell model B-25 which I built as a kid and my Dad hung it from the ceiling over my bed so this view is quite familiar to me. My Dad was an Army Air Corps mechanic during the war and worked on B-24s, B-25s and B-29s.
Beautiful plane and a beautiful shot, Rob! I love history and enjoyed the narrative very much!
Thanks for sharing. This is a great shot.
