I have had a Nikon D5000 for the past 8 - 9 years. Looking to upgrade to the D7200. Would this be a good choice and is this an F mou Also does it have an easy to use back button focus feature?

It would be a very nice upgrade, it is a F mount. It doesn't have a dedicated AF-ON button for Back Button Focus, but you can set the AE-L/AF-L button to function as AF-ON.

You can assign a back button focus button in the menu that assigns buttons on The D7200.

All your lenses should work. It has a manual setting too for older lenses that have f stop rings.

I thought about upgrading my D5500 to a 7200, but when in the store, I tried the D500 and fell in love with it. And it does have a dedicated focus button. I recommend the D500 . . .

The only difference between the button on the D500 and D7200, aside from the label, is how it was set in the factory. The buttons on both cameras can be programed for different functions in the menu. They are then 'dedicated' to that function until changed.

I have both, if had to choose one it would be the D500. But the price difference is considerable.

i upgraded from the d5300 to the d7200 and love it. The only thing I might change is the screen to be a flip screen. D500 was too expensive for me right now.

Go for Nikon D850! If I didn’t shot Canon, this will be my camera of choice.

Great recommendation and I am sure the OP won't consider your recommendation.

Yes and yes. Yes.

The D7200 is a cost-effective upgrade to better camera controls and image quality, and you can use the lenses you already own.

A year ago I upgraded from my then 7 year old D5000 to a D7100 which was then on sale. Great upgrade especially the in-camera autofocus. Go for it.

How deep into Nikon lenses are you? If you have very few, it may be time to investigate the mirrorless cameras. There are a lot of good reasons for going with the future.
