California Winter Light

I took this in 2007 along Highway 295 along the eastern side of the Sierras. I think Mt. Whitney is in the background. Up closer is a golf course. The thing that grabbed me though is the winter light. I just love that winter light on the east side of the Sierras.

Pretty exposure, the eastern Sierras is my hands down favorite place for landscapes. That's the golf course in Lone Pine. The prominent mountain is Lone Pine Peak. Mt Whitney is over to the right.

Yes, it always seems to be in later afternoon looking west. When the sun is shining. I was shooting fairly directly toward it.

yes Whitney is the wedge-shaped peak to the right of center. "The Needles" are situated immediately to the left. Been up there and the view from up top is spectacular. great photo.
