to buy a super zoom camera.
I realise it might be mostly guess work, but does any member have an idea when the successor to Nikon P 900 might be forthcoming or how one can find out?
Thank you.

Another vote for Sony DSC-RX10. ππ»ππ»ππ»
For all of us current P900 owners, we are waiting with baited breath to see what the successor will offer. But I do not believe anyone, anywhere in the world, has heard anything definitive, or rumored, from Nikon yet. And I understand the P900 is still selling quite well, so introducing its successor at this time, or floating rumors about it, would be tantamount to shooting themselves in the foot.

You could try Nikon Rumors web site. But, they are only rumors. No one really knows except Nikon, and they are not talking.
Some of these responses are crazy. If I ask about a 400mm lens, it would do me no good to tell me about a 50mm lens. I'm also interested in the P900 successor, someone posted on UH recently saying it has been discontinued. I've seen a rumour that the successors zoom goes out to 3000mm, and it will film 4K video, and have RAW for still photos. Maybe Nikon are still working out bugs, it's been rumoured a long time I think.

I shoot with a friend that uses this camera - bloody outstanding! While I'm changing lens he always ready. That Zeiss lens is damn good front to back!!! Expensive for a bridge camera but it will take to the dance and get to dance with the pretty one!

Not to start a fuss or be at odds with you. But they understand, they are chatting as with a friend, giving other insight or ideas. Not a bad thing as one can glean good things they find they are interested in. Not a bad thing to respond this way at all. Many appreciate answers such as this. More like over a cup of coffee rather than sterile classroom. Place for both I suppose.
To the OP's question, this was the most recently article I could find online, and it is far from definitive:
http://thenewcamera.com/tag/nikon-p1000/There was another posting elsewhere that also referenced the closing of the Chinese plant that was scheduled to produce the successor to the P900.
Like we use to say in the military, βIf you havenβt heard a rumor by 12 noon start your ownβ.π
