My second attempt at reverse lens macro.
These were shot with a Zeiss Planar 50mm F/1.4 reversed on a D610.
Please view the downloads.

Any help in IDing these guys is appreciated.

The second image isn't the sharpest or most detailed but it seems to be of a hoverfly with mites on its head?

Bumble bee.

I can't make out mites on the hoverfly. The shiny bump on top of the head is the location of the ocelli, which are simple eyes. The little knobs sticking out the front are its antennae.

Not mites but antennae, the hair like structures coming out of the little yellow bumps are the arista, part of the sensing system for air currents, scents etc. Such pretty little creatures these, I love watching them.

Thanks for the information, I stand corrected. There is a lot to learn about the creatures that inhabit the macro world...Thanks for giving me some pointers in the right direction :-)

Very nice. Reverse lens is a great way to enjoy macro photography by utilizing your regular photography gear and the technique really does a great job of it.
