Larger camera bag pack

I just bought a Sigma 150-600mm contemporary lens. My current bag pack is way too small now so I will have to update to a larger one. As it’s close to a zillion bag packs on the market I hoped to hear from anyone what bag pack you think works well for a land and body in this size. I will mainly be doing day trips.
Thank you

I absolutely love my Vanguard "air system" backpack! It will easily hold your camera with the 150-600 attached and much more. It is really comfortable and well cushioned.

I suggest you visit a local camera store and see what they carry. It can give you an idea of what would work best for you. Any reputable store will order a different bag if they don't have exactly what you want.

It isn't just fitting your larger lens, but does it have enough side pockets / do you really need all those side pockets or can it carry a folded tripod / do you want that tripod pocket. These options and variations are so much better to shape to your needs when you have them in front of you.

I do a lot of hiking combined with photography, and found a great pack on Amazon... a Tubu Large camera backpack. It fits 3 bodies, 5 "normal size" lenses and my Sigma 150-600, as well as assorted filters and other odd and ends. Its also got a reasonable way of attaching a tripod. It has a bunch of room for non-photography items as well. Best of all, it was $75 brand new. I love it and may be buying the extra large for a trip to Europe this summer.

I use a LowePro Flipside 500AW. Although I don't "backpack," it holds a ton of stuff safely....Including long lenses, etc.

The Mindshift Backlight 36L is not only a fine way to carry photo gear but also a well-designed backpack. My 150-600 G2 on a D500 fits easily. One caveat though...it will not fit in the overhead bin of some regional jets, but that would not seem to be an issue for your day trips.

I use a low pro. Fits everything plus some. Nice strapping system to carry and hike. Bought it on ebay

Measure your gear and check the Lowepro website. They give dimensions and guide what fits in their backpacks.

I use two of them (and three or four of their shoulder bags... though obviously not all at the same time!)

I suspect the smaller of my backpacks would handle your camera and that lens.... It's an older model Lowepro they called a "Mini Trekker". I've traveled with up to 300mm f/2.8 in it, along with other lenses. It fits into an airplane overhead bin (barely). It's a good size for day trips.

My other backpack is Lowepro's larger "Photo Trekker".... which accommodates up to a 500mm f/4, 400mm f/2.8 or even 800mm f/5.6. It's probably a larger pack than you'd want to carry much of the time... especially when it's filled with gear (mine currently has three DSLRs w/battery grips, a 100-400mm, 4 smaller lenses and various accessories in it). Too big to carry on an airplane and too heavy to lug it very far.

Big question --- Do you really want to lug that big lens with you all the time? I decided not. I bought a case with a shoulder strap which just fits the big lens and I take it along whenever I think I'll need it. It usually stays in the car with other big gear like tripod, bodypod, gimbal head, reflectors etc. and is there when I need it. My back pack is used for the smaller stuff like macro lens, WA lens speedlight, ring light spare body etc. and I don't have to unnecessarily suffer the weight of the big lens all the time. Been there, done that!
