Cardinal Timothy Dolan - - two words to the trump admin and Sessions: Discretionary Implementation

"No part of the Bible could be used to support separating children from their parents at the border"

In his speech quoting the Bible, Cardinal Dolan says that Jeff Sessions' quote, referring to St Paul, probably wasn't the best choice (Sessions left out the second part of the sentence - - Cardinal Dolan completed it: "St. Paul always says that we should obey the laws of the government, if those laws are in conformity with The Lord's laws."

DISCRETIONARY IMPLEMENTATION - - there is no requirement that the government do this the horrific WAY they are CHOOSING to do it...

I think if you don't break the law you won't go to jail, thus you won't
be separated from your children and loved ones ! .....works every time I believe !

Once again. Presenting at the border and asking for asylum is not a crime.
Coming across the border without authorization is a crime, it's a misdemeanor of the same gravitas as shoplifting an item worth less than $1000.00.
No one is saying open all the borders. What we are saying is that the United States is committing a heinous act by separating children from their parents.
If you want to send them backs, go ahead but why are we putting the children in detention centers?

Actually Coyote, there are US and International laws already in place that cover folks presenting at the border and asking for asylum - - they ARE detained, but they are NOT jailed or separated from their families, because these people are specifically NOT to be considered as entering the US illegally:

I refer you to these two articles:

https://www.pri.org/stories/2018-05-01/how-does-seeking-asylum-work-us-border

http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/immigration/sd-me-asylum-process-20180427-story.html

The current administration is interpreting and skewing the laws because it serves their agenda and trump's campaign promises - - people need to understand that it DOES NOT "HAVE" to be this way - - THIS IS A CHOICE !!!

First of all thes laws are not Trump's laws. They have been in effect before Trump was elected. So ask yourself this question? Which laws should the Trump administration enforce and which laws should they ignore? If you don't like a law, change it. (that's congress' eesponsibility). People who cross the border illegally are criminals. Criminals are seprarated from their children all the time. These children are not mistreated, other than separated.

I don't know how many times to say it, but both US and international law allow folks to approach the border and ask for Asylum - - these people are not crossing the border illegally, hence they are not criminals - - they are detained but are not separated from their families, and a process is put in place to vet their request.

The current admin is taking every opportunity to make examples out of human beings and their families for the sole purpose fulfilling their agenda and keeping trump's v****g base happy.

The behavior is egregious and inhumane. The UN has made statements that it is violating human rights - - why would that be okay with you as an American citizen ???
