Zippy was born in our pond in 2011 and when I spotted him, he wasn't even 1/2" long... I would go out every night at dark with a flashlight and spot him zipping in and out of the rocks... hence the name Zippy-Do!! He was and still is a slow learner on how to grab the food, so he prefers that I hand feed him... and he lets me pet him!!

Awesome!!! I am dogsitting for my friends for a week, and they have an outdoor goldfish pond. The fish are on average about 12” from head to end of tail. And they’re smart! They sure know what their food container looks like! :)

Slow Learner?!? Sounds rather smart to me! Lol!

Very well done set, and I think the last one demonstrates the fun way you approach your photography!

Edit: the real live frog pic (no. 2) is a stand out!

LOL... thanks indigoblues, for your visit and comment!!! They are very smart and they all come running or swimming over when they see us!! Zippy has to suck my finger before he gets his food!! lol.. Enjoy the fish and watching the dog... sounds like a fun get-a-way!!

LOL.... you might be right, Bruce!! He's so funny, instead of sucking in the water near the food, he blows bubbles and pushes the food further away!! Since I don't swim, I couldn't help him learn the right way, so he gets babied from me and fed by hand!! Every year we buy 4-5 tadpoles and this frog is from last years bunch... I don't know where they go in the winter, but the minute we filled the small little tub (pond) for the water lilies, he appeared... and we put the tadpoles in with him!

Glad you enjoyed... and my little hoppers too!!

Thanks John... the koi are fed very well, but as far as the frog goes... he has to catch his own flies!! lol..

Thanks Charlie for your visit and comment.....It was one of the best decisions we made... we started out with a pre-fab pond that we put in outselves... we enjoyed it so much, we had one dug a lot bigger.... but our fish got so big and were stressed from not enough room... we went even bigger!! It's just so relaxing sitting watching them all splishing and splashing!!! Koi are very smart and know when it's chow time!!

Very nice series, Angela. Zippy and the frog are both excellent shots and your leap frogs are cute as can be.
