Elephant Seals Sam Simeon, Ca.

Just north of San Simeon, and just south of Ragged Point, Ca. on Highway 1, is a place where elephant seals come on ground to rest, breed, nd sun. It is known as the Elephant Seal Rookery. The adult males will fight for the right to mate....These are a few of the photos I took on an unexpected trip recently....No adults, these are all young ones, but In one hoto you can see pairs raising up in play fight. The adult males are UGLY and have a huge rounded drooping nose.

Been there. Amazing to see the entire beach "jam-packed" with seals.
