Ticks

If you think ticks aren't all around us, this poor rabbit has maybe 10 ticks on it's ears about 10'€™ outside my back door. One is fully engourged. Lime disease is always close at hand if you don'€™t take precautions.

This is why one should wait until a good, hard frost before grabbing one for dinner.

I agree... ticks are everywhere right now— especially on local wildlife.

Nice shot, BTW!

They say one of the most important things to prevent Lyme Disease is to not have stone walls and woodpiles near the house - these are areas which support mice which carry the ticks. I suppose mowing any grassy areas to discourage rabbits from hanging around would also help. You definitely need to treat your socks and pants with permethrin once a month. This prevents ticks from hanging on and climbing up until they find flesh. You can get permethrin at Bass Pro Shop or at Amazon online. It is NOT for use on skin.

Nicely taken. A good friend of ours has a small dog that had both "Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever" both at the same time from contact with ticks. Fortunately with treatment and time, he was able to overcome both.

They thrive here in the mid-west and checking myself for ticks has become a routine after a walk around outdoors and for some reason, the little S.O.B.'s know exactly where they want to go on me!

Last year, a tick took the life of my friend's Carin Terrier. He was a beautiful dog.

Noah could have left them off the boat, and no one would have objected.
