This is a $300 lens that gets a lot of nice reviews. I just got a canon 6d II full frame. Great for landscapes and Astro Photography. It does not auto-focus which is fine with me. This would be on tripod mostly using live view to magnify and focus with. Any one of you using this lens? Do you like it? I need an ultra wide for my new rig.

I own that lens. First used it on a 6D. Haven't used it since I upgraded to a 5DIV.
I use it to do interiors of the car barns and rail cars at the railway museum I belong to. When teamed with the 6D I could get those interior shots without lighting by going to high ISO and slow shutter speed. It did good work. Now that I have the 5DIV and a good flash and soft box for it I need to go back and do more shots in the cars and of the equipment stored in our car barns. I am learning to tolerate a monopod which may help also. Not room for a tripod inside many of those cars. And in the completely restored cars the restoration guys get real uptight about anything that might bump or scratch finishes.
I did do a couple of test shots outside and the depth of field is amazing.
I’ve seen some really good shots with the Rokinon, but if you haven’t checked it out The Laowa 12mm f/2.8 is a pretty amazing lens with insanely low distortion and is great for astrophotography landscapes and architecture.

Which Railway Museum?
Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris. OK, the board is trying to change it to "Southern California Railway Museum" but just about everyone else likes the old name and so far that one is still used on everything.
Several of us in my photoclub have this lens. We use it mostly for night photography and we all love it. There might be some distortion but nothing that can't be fixed in PP. I attached some samples...it's really quite a sharp lens for the money.
I have it as well and have no issues with it on my 6D mk II. There is a profile for it in LR Classic to correct distortion, at least there is when I load the RAW file into LR. Once it has been edited into a .tif, then the profile doesn't appear.

Thanks so much for the affirmation. I kind of decided to get it so it sounds like I won't be wasting my money. I am interested in that star trails photo with the barn in the foreground. Is that yours? Would you happen to know how close the shooter was to the building and what the shutter, aperture and iso was? Gorgeous composition.

I have the 12 mm Rokinon. Love it. Very sharp, set it hyperfocal and you don't need to focus it. Also quite fast - F2.
I use it...great lens for astro photography

That's what I want to experiment with. Unfortunately I have to drive quite far to get to a really dark sky. Thanks for the info.

Hi Pixelpixie, those are beautiful shots!!!! Where did you take the auroras? Also, I have been reluctant to try the Rokinon's because of their poor reputation for quality control. I had a Samyang 2.8 wide angle a few years ago and couldn't get a good shot from it to save my soul! Unfortunately, though I live in a large urban area, no one around here carries the lens, so I would have to order it online. Did you get a good copy on your first try? Thanks again for sharing your great photos!
Pixelpixie88, great shots especially the aurora ones.
