How do I get a good picture on stage?

My daughter belly dances with a troupe of about 12 girls at the state and county fair every year. The stage is about 8' higher than the audience. I can't stand in front of the crowd and besides I would be looking up their dresses. The lighting is poor because it is in a tent. But my biggest problem is since they are moving, I always get blurred shots. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks Torrey

I can't believe you asked this question. I have to go do the very same shoot with every obstetrical you just question us about. Here is a link to my website www.cokerphotos.com and I have this gallery set so you can see how I set my camera. As for height, I was on a small aluminum 5' ladder I carry for weddings. http://www.cokerphotos.com/MASON-COUNTY-4H-FAIR-2010/MASON-CO-FAIR-2011/18245525_gp2RWG/23/1403334573_cKtW39L

Thanks Coker,
I'll try that. Yours look a whole lot better than mine.
Thanks,
Torrey

I like the shots. How do you get the flash to look so natural?

In your on stage photos the info shows the flash fired but the lighting look even.

Compliments of the Gary Fong flash diffuser.
