What should I do with the body? Repair?

If the D7100 has served you well and the repair of its AF is not very expensive compared to the actual price of the camera my answer is YES, have it repaired.
I hope you are convinced this is a problem with the camera and not you.

It is the camera. Called Nikon service ran through setting and the agree it is the camera. The camera is about 4 years old and served me well. I have a D500 on order, should get here today. I don't know what to do with the body.

What is the current shutter count for your camera? The expected lifetime shutter count for a D7100 is 150,000. Of course a given camera might last for 1,000,000 shutter activations, but knowing might help you to make a decision.

Shutter count 10251.

If you elect to not repair it it sounds like it is still functional as a MF camera.

you can use it with Nikon excellent AIS MF lenses.

I've been using MF several days now, I'm just not fast enough shooting wildlife. I'll keep ii for a backup. The D500 arrived yesterday so I'm playing with it.
