When sending photos for someone to view, is it necessary for them to have Drop Box also?

No. After copying your files to DropBox, go to the web site where the images are and create a link. Then, paste that link in your email message for anyone to see. Anyone who has the link can view.

To expand on Bruce's post - Dropbox has a special folder call Photos. You can create a folder in that folder, fill it with images, and right click on the folder name - the flyout menu will appear, and one of the choices will be copy dropbox link.
The recipient can see the images and download them if you provide for that in the permissions, and they don't need to have a Dropbox account. However, if they don't you can send them an invitation to Dropbox and if they sign up as a result of the invitation from you, you will get an extra 500mb of free space.
Thank you, Bruce. Take care

A long time university prof, friend advise me to setup a Dropbox account so I could upload my short videos and share them with interested researchers, friends, and family. I keep the videos short and delete them after a couple of weeks. So long as you know the person as reliable, who is sending you the video, you should be okay. Never open a Dropbox from someone you don't know or someone who may be trying to scam you.
Excellent advise, Barn owl.
Thank you

Nope. You can also request files from someone without an account. It all works like a charm.
