Does anyone have an opinion about the Strobie 130 Manual External Flash Unit? I saw it advertised but have never heard of this flash.

Not familiar with it, but what are you planning to use it for?

Hi. Never heard of this flash unit until now.
This Web site touts it:
http://www.photowhoa.com/strobie_external_flashThe video clip at this Web site discusses the simple operation of this flash unit.
Note that it has only manual settings -- no ttl function. So the cameraman will have to set power output levels.
For my part, I find setting flash output by manual means no big deal in my home studio or on a location shoot. In fact, I tend to like manual mode because once set, the flash power output remains constant.
This flash unit apparently works with radio triggers, too. But bare operation in slave mode requires that the flash unit detect another flash going off.
Check out the video clip for more.
In closing, I note with Canon flash unit prices becoming painfully high, third-party vendors that can offer a useful, quality product as an alternative should flourish.
I may consider buying one of these Strobie 130s to try it out.

Never heard of this flash, but you would be hard pressed to find a better manual flash than the YONGNUO YN 560 II at about $60 on Amazon.com. Awesome flash and powerful too.
I'd be REAL careful about stuff from this site.
They've had some shady, gray-market stuff before.
And, I'll bet that this is a rebranded version of some chinese brand.
This military version is designated as a C-47 (my dad flew in these "Gooneybirds" ) or C-53 Skytrooper (paratrooper/glider towing).
Nice Shot!
