This finch just decided to plop down in the columbine when I was set up in my blind waiting for hummingbirds yesterday morning. Then he went into a courtship display with the wing flapping and other noisy behavior. ( Not that I minded) This is one of the reasons I like to work from a blind you never know what other opportunities might occur. Shot at 1600sec f4 with 400mm lens and d810.

Also a bumblebee on Baptisa shot with nikkon 200mm and D810 , 500sec at f8

Great shots Glenn. Have you ever used a chair blind? I have been considering it, as the critters usually bolt when I go into the yard.

Thank you SpyderJan, I have used many things for blinds depending if I will be mobile or stationary or I will be leaving it at a location for an extended period. I don't recall ever using a chair blind. I have often used a foam seat like hunters use and throw a Gillie blanket over myself and camera, that setup is very portable. The one I've used the most is a homemade one from a slide projector table which the legs collapse and everything folds up into a nice little package and then throw a homemade cover with lens snoot over top. That is then adjustable for height. or irregular ground. The one I got recently is a Tragopan V portable hub blind which is one I ordered and is a very nice, versatile blind for photographers. I fully understand what you mean about the critters leaving the scene, that is why even when shooting some animals I could do without the blind I use it anyway cause so many times I have been rewarded with great shots I would not have if I had been out in the open. Keep in mind most places I am using the blind the wildlife is not acclimated to lots of people. Which ever type you decide on SpyderJan I would recommend getting something comfortable, and the only drawbacks to the cloth draped over you are that no matter what you do even just operating the camera the animals may see movement. I look forward to seeing some of your blind photos posted here.
