I will be in Newfoundland at the end of this month. It will be my third year in a row. There is so much to see and photograph.
If you have travelled to this part of the world, what was your favourite places and things to photograph? I am grateful for any suggestions or tips. Cheers.
Harold
Watching this as I was born there but left when I was 3 months old. Needless to say, I don’t remember anything about it.

You must visit your birthplace. It is an amusing province.
I like Cape St. Mary for gannets. Ellsworth for puffins

What time of year did you go to Cape St. Mary's and Elliston?

Loc: Somewhere in the Great White North.
Hiking through Gros Morne and Terra Nova... fantastic. But that was 35 years ago and my hiking legs are not what they used to be.
Twillingate for icebergs and maybe whales.
Cape St. Marys for Gannets and other birds.
Cape Spear lighthouse - eastern most point.
Signal Hill, St. John's - take a leisurely walk up the hill to this historic sight, you'll enjoy the view.
I was there a number of years ago from June 14 - June 22. We took a ferry to Port aus Basques and drove north to the top and back down the eastern side to meet with friends who flew to St. John's. Every mile had something interesting.

By all means add the city of Gander to your list. What a valiant effort they made to the free world on 9/11.

Bucket list soon.
Is there one time of year that’s best to visit?

My favourite time is the end of June. Puffins, Gannets are at its peak. Humpback whales are combing the area for Capelin (fish) and there are icebergs still around.

Thanks!
Maybe next year. Just got back from France and I’m having surgery in a couple of weeks.
Loved our visit to Quebec to see friends last October, but was a bit late I think.
Ok, I’m now putting Newfoundland on my list. Love this site for all the recommendations!

You will leave after a number of days but your heart will stay in Newfoundland.
