Enjoyed viewing these images.
Studying the second image, looks like an oil burner with the tank on the tender.
With a little googling, I could not verify it is an oil burner.
7470 is pulling the train backwards.
I assume the locomotive cannot turn around.
Can the locomotive move around to the other end of the cars and pull the train?

Thanks guys.

We stumbled across this on our 2008 vacation to North America. We didn't see it on the return journey.
I suspect it is just an out an back operation with the loco just running around (not turning) at the far end.
We didn't catch this train, however next day we caught the train up to Crawford Notch (pictures to come) from North Conway.
There is a turntable at North Conway where locos can be turned.
Attached is a pic shot at North Conway, next day, in the yard.

I really love this one. It looks like a calendar picture and the download is fantastic. Thanks for posting. We will now have to take a trip over to North Conway,NH

These engines were used more as switchers, hence the lamps on both ends. Designed to go either way.

Thanks. It is a beautiful area, especially in the fall (when we were there).
