I wonder if I was over-enthusiastic about getting the file attached? This 4 times attached didn't show up in the "preview" (honest) .

Did you wait? Many people don't wait long enough for the preview to display.

You uploaded a 13+ MB file. Depending on your internet speed, that could take more than a second or two to upload. Also you might need to scroll further up the screen - above the text box - to actually see the image after it loads.
Critique: I see two strong, interesting forms but no focal point. The vertical tree trunk on left and the palm fronds on right are directing our attention to the middle, but nothing is there, such as sun setting or a watercraft. So my question is, what drew you to the scene? What would you like us to see?
Regarding exposure, or processing, the image is quite dark. The mood for me is somber (cold, rainy perhaps) yet the palm trees make me think vacation time with sun and hot sand
Aside from any compositional considerations, think about how light affects the mood of your image. Is it enhancing the scene, projecting the "correct" message for what you felt when you took the picture?

I hesitate to comment on others pictures when I am often not confident that I could do better. I agree with Linda that the picture seems to lack a focal interest and that it seems too dark. Even for rainy day it seems perhaps under exposed.
