A while ago, one of you said s/he does noise reduction and lens correction in raw processing. Can you explain more? I am learning to process Raw data, but don't know how to do those two processes.
Thanks for your help.

What software are you using?
Do you have Camera Raw 5.5 installed in PSE7 and do your RAW files open?
Assuming they do open, there should be a tab (depicted by one or triangles) with sliders for Noise Reduction - Luminance and colour.
Enlarge your image to 100% and play with the two sliders, and you should see significant changes in the noise levels especially with the luminance slider. Fine balance the results with the sharpness slider.
I have PSE9 - I am guessing the layout is roughly the same in PSE7.
Just searched the net and it looks as though PSE7 does haver the filter Correct Camera Distortion. So when you have processed the image in Camera Raw, click Open Image, go to the filters menu and look for the correct camera distortion button. Open this and you will find a few interesting sliders to play with. Can even make pretend fish eye effects with this.

Thank you very much for the advice. I am out of town for a few days, but look forward to trying this when I get home.

Lightroom 4 will do it, especially with certain plug-ins.

You don't have to have the file in raw format to process it in RAW. Select the file number and in the file menu at the top of the screen choose "Open in Camera Raw." Now you are working in RAW, regardless the file format of the image.
Noise reduction is in the third icon from among those that appear in the top right of the window. Drop down to the selection that says "Noise Reduction." Go to the luminance slider and work it to the right, then back and forth till you have the effect you want. Now do the same thing for the "Color" slider. You are done with noise reduction. Scott Kelby says that noise reduction in RAW rocks, while noise reduction in Photoshop proper is lame.
I have not had any lens distortion issues in my pictures, so I have not bothered with how to fix them. I am sure someone else will come to your rescue on that one.
ACR has an adjustment under the Detail menu. click the icon with the two overlapping triangles and you will see Sharpening and below it there are 3 sliders fore noise reduction. You should make sure your preview is set at 100% when making these adjustments. There is a very good plugin called Noiseware by Imagenomic that reduces noise very effectively.
The best two noise reduction methods are plugins "Topaze Denoise, and Noise Ninja". I have found the best lens correction is DxO pro Optics 7.
There you have it. Three good noise reducing plug-ins for Photoshop. Good luck!
PNagy, I must be brain dead. I can't seem to figure out how to open in raw in PSE7 without being in raw format. Which file menu are you talking about?
Thanks.
