I'm planning a trip to Niagara Falls area later this month. Looking for any advice or insight as to any unusual vantage points, etc. Also, whether better to stay on US side or Canadian side? Appreciate any advice

We stayed at a campground on the Canadian side as we thought the views from Canada were better. Also, across the road from the Visitors' Center is a very beautiful park that has a great many photo ops.

I've been to Niagra Falls a couple of times. The views from the Canadian side are far superior. Have a great trip.

Be sure to visit Niagara-on-the-Lake, a quaint town that hosts the Shaw Festival every summer. Great restaurants and BnBs. A lovely drive to the Falls. Nice little public golf course. Old fort. Great bike paths (flat!) https://www.shawfest.com/season-brochure/. 2018 schedule of plays
We celebrated many anniversaries there.

I love the Maid of the Mist boat ride at the Falls! We never did the tourist-trap arcades and shops but they might be fun photo ops.

Canadian side view will serve you better. Nice paved path to pick spots to shoot from

Well, you certainly don't want to get too close to the protective railings but if you do and unfortunately fall over, make sure you look up and too the right as you fall. It's a once in a life time view!

Go to the Canadian side--the US side has nothing in comparison to it. Don’t forget your passport. Go for a ride on The Maid of the Mist--you won’t regret it. We liked it so well that we went twice.

I don't think a US citizen needs a passport to enter Canada as long as you have a picture ID and citizenship. A passport provides both but an original birth certificate (not a copy) and valid state issued driver's license with picture would also work.

You don't need it to get into Canada - you need it to get back. Went to the Intl. Peace Garden a couple of years ago. Had no problem going but was stopped for over two hours getting back while they verified my drivers license and birth certificate.

You can take some great shots from the Rainbow Bridge. There are several angles for both falls. Have a couple of fast lenses that will cover 18-300 or 500mm. A waterproof camera and lens are needed if you get into the mist or it rains. Canadian side close to the Horseshoe Falls is a must as well as the Maid of the Mist. Check out the available opportunities of the Niagara River & canyon, whirlpools etc. Some Hotels allow roof access for an additional perspective. Enjoy, ot os a lifetime memory.

I was born and lived there for 62 years until I moved south. Everything to see is on the Canadian side. Very little left on the USA side except the cave of the winds. When you go there take a guided tour. They take you places that you wouldn't think of. Beware when you are near the falls there is a lot of mist or if you take the lower falls boat ride "The Maid Of The Mist" you are going to get wet. They provide rain coats for you. Any other questions just ask. Ron

Incorrect- as of a few years ago, the minimum you will need is a passport card- which allows you to only travel by car to Canada and Mexico.
