We were camping in AZ. Shortly after sunset what had been a relatively straight line contrail earlier turned into this when the upper-level winds got to it.

Watch out, you're liable to get a lot of 'Chemtrail' comments? Interesting picture, and the colors, must be all those chemicals....
Think there's some wind shear there....very interesting photo, thanks

Thanks. I thought it was interesting too. It's not a great photo (high iso, etc.) but it was quite an arresting sight.

I hope that was the winds that distorted the trail not his flyong ability LOL
Wow..that's a one in a lifetime shot. Thanks for sharing.
That is interesting--nice colors, too.
Didnt know that some still think of geoengineerig as *contraills* That is some toxic out there .......Best just look down on the device screen and fix the filthy washout skies latter in PS.
Hi, nice pic, but its not a jet contrail, its was a missle launch. We get those over here in So Cal from launches at Vandenburg Air Force Base.

That is not a contrail ... it is properly called a CHEMTRAIL. Contrails dissipate after a minute or so because they are mostly water vapor. Clearly that one is not. Still an interesting picture. Nice shot.
