Was bee active or sleeping? Looks like she has a bite-grip on plant.

All are excellent images.

She was active. If you look to the right of the plant, you can see the pollen she was stirring up in the air.

It is only an itty-bitty, teensy-weensy jumping spider, so it does not really count.

Excellent photos! Just curious, does the tiny spider have four eyes, or is it two eyes and two of something else?

All spiders have eight eyes, including simple eyes on back of head. Not all spider eyes are equal: some small, simple eyes only detect shadows (warning), some movement (hunting), some for triangulation (wide spread), and some for fine detail (large).

Thank you, Douglass. I didn't know that, it's really interesting. Considering that spiders have small eyes does it mean that the large eyes are compound eyes?

The front-facing eyes are lensed & focus-able, just like our eyes, but no iris.

fascinating! Also appreciate the sharing of knowledge of the bug world as well as instruction in macro. What is that little guy in #2--kind of a mousy face.
