We decided to take a ride one nice day in May 2015 and picked the ride along the Hudson for our journey. Were thrilled to see these speeders when we swung by the station at Hadley-Luzerne. We followed them up to the crossing on the River Road and got a few good pictures.
VERY COOL! Those are definitely a piece of the American RR history that's often overlooked. This was most likely an outing for NARCOA(North American Rail Car Owners Assn) members. I'd love to take a day trip on one of those.

Never saw some of these before. Thanks for the great post with great photographs.

A number of these speeders were supposed to show up in this area a few years ago. I was looking forward to getting some photos of them. However, the day they were supposed to be here it was raining cats and dogs so the event was cancelled. Needless to say I was disappointed. Rats!

Thanks for looking and commenting Travis. It was a very exciting day. We saw these one other time about 10 years ago on the track just south of Tupper Lake, NY, but that time they were parked- I think they were having lunch, so we didn't get to see them rolling, and the tracks there do not go close to any roads. We waited a while for them, but they never did come out and start up. That particular rail line is now closed and the non railfans want to turn it into a hiking trail. Railfans were hoping to have that turned into a tourist train, and the RR station in Tupper Lake was rebuilt beautifully, but that dream is now dead.

Thanks for looking and commenting Jay Pat. There were more than 10 of them, but I could only post 10 at a time, and had to go to work so I didn't have enough time to post the rest of them.

Thanks for looking and commenting Lee. I have some other pictures form farther up the track when they were cruising along the Hudson River, but those did not come out as well since they were all in deep shadow.

Thanks for looking and commenting Ed. I can imagine your disappointment. We had no advance notice they were in the area, so we were REALLY happy that we decided to swing by the station that day and at just the time they were pulling in.
