Operated by The Royal Palm Railway Experience on the Golden Triangle Route (Eustice, Tavares, Mt. Dora) in Florida. Taken during a mobbed, huge Mt. Dora craft fair.
Good, something is running there again!
It's a great train ride-cool thing is that a ticket is good for ALL day. Myself and a bunch of railfan friends met up here a few weeks ago and did the Pizza Train. That loco was painted purple and silver(and the color is historically accurate) to honor the Atlantic Coast Line heritage of some of the trackage-the script on the side and emblems, however, comes from, and was used to honor the Seaboard Air Line-the other "fallen flag" of the trackage history. This particular locomotive actually was built for the Pittsburg and Lake Erie, back in the early 50's. Of particular interest is that the O&NW has a contract to use the beautifully restored Clinchfield 800-the F-unit that headed the 75th running of the CSX Santa Train this past year.
