Been lurking for a while and now that I have just acquired a brand new Sony Nex 7 thought I should join up because this digital photography lark is a bit complicated. I haven't doing any photography for a long time and it sure has changed. The capture part any way.

Welcome from another person from Christchurch. Left there about three months before the shakes began and now live in the northwestern part of the US. This is a great site for help so don't be shy about asking questions.

Welcome to the forum. We are friends with a Kiwi couple who are neighbours and whose brother's home was affected by the quakes. The problem is still not resolved after all this time. Ironically, I was at my camera club last night and one of the members who go over there 2-3 times a year showed us some pictures of Christchurch. To think that some of the buildings and statues are now valuable historical images as they have been destroyed in the quakes.

yes I've been waiting for Google to update Google Earth as it seems like at least 75% of the the CBD has been demolished. Well I supose thats what you get for building a city on a swamp

Went to NZ in 1965/66. Beautiful city,Christchurch. Sad about the quake. I think this Cathedral is the one that fell down?
