Totally agree with this effort....just another invasive species with NO real predators. It's up to responsible people to do everything possible to control the populations of these destructive animals...

My son worked a couple of seasons on an archaeological dig out on San Nicolas Island. Though the park people put out that the pigs and other invasive species were "relocated" he saw sailors and marines from the base on the island going out to shoot the pigs. I don't know how long that went on, but it did happen.

Hog Hunting: The 6 Biggest Myths About Hunting, Killing, and Eating Big Boars
https://www.outdoorlife.com/blogs/game-changers/hog-hunting-6-biggest-myths-about-hunting-killing-and-eating-big-boarsQUOTE: According to annual surveys by Texas A&M University, roughly half those hogs,
anywhere from 2.6 million to 3.4 million, are in Texas, where they cause about
$400 million in property damage a year and degrade habitat for native species.
Although hunters harvest about 750,000 a year in 240 of the state's 254 counties
by gun, bow, and traps, there’s no sign of a wild swine decline in the Lone Star State.
And that's a good thing, according to Clayton, because feral pigs are very tasty,
provide year-round opportunity, and generate revenue for ranchers and other
property owners who lease land for hunting. In fact, Clayton said fears of a
coming "aporkalypse" in Texas are exaggerated and most landowners
actually manage wild porkers as "a cash crop."
