Thank you for your suggestion, I do hear what you are saying. The cropping is not always done in post, it happens deliberately when I'm shooting the original image trying to exclude distractions - other flowers too close, dead petals from other flowers, bare spots. But I also crop for the same type of distractive reasons in post as well. I can't alter these plants in a public venue so I compromise. I also know one of my settings cropped further (automatically) when I converted to JPEG which I found out how to control after these images were submitted.
I will keep your observation in mind; my preference is the whole flower with space and a soft background also. Thanks again.
