Canon Pixma Pro-100 running rebates

It seems every year that the Pro-100 is offered at a $250 rebate. The rebates expire tomorrow. Adorama is selling them and claim $119 as the final cost after rebate.
I am finally learning how to print on my current Canon MX5522 and get acceptable prints. I have been experimenting with different papers, many from Red River. But my current printer is limited to 8 x 10 and I would like to boost that up to 11 x 14.
The Pro 100 can print to 13 x 19 as advertised; not sure my needs will go that far. However in one review someone mentioned that there is NO setup to choose 11 x 14 in the print menu.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this printer and any others that would satisfy my needs. I print mainly gray tones and not color.
Thanks

I have that printer and am very pleased. Do a search. That printer has been thoroughly discussed and recommended here.

Canon ships printers with standard ink cartridges, not trial sizes. So, if you count the price of a full set of ink cartridges that offsets the $119. It is basically free.

The easiest way to an 11x14 is to print on the 13x19 paper you get and then trim the paper.

If you want to use existing 11x14 stock, there are plenty of hits to a google search, including a solution from Red River Paper: http://www.redrivercatalog.com/infocenter/tips/borderless-11x14-canon-photoshop-win-mac-1.html

The software for the Pro-100 has provision to input "custom" paper sizes, I put in 11x14, did one* and went back to 13x19.
And it will feed 11x14 just fine, adjust the feed tray. Red River makes a lovely canvas for printing, and 11x14 centered on 13x19 allows plenty of canvas for wrapping and stretching on the frame for hanging/display without losing any of the image.

*I was thinking of entering a contest at the city library and they were insisting on 11x14. They also wanted releases from any recognizable person in a shot or the owners of any recognizable building etc. I decided to just skip it. A friend who works at the library told me that all the images entered were very controlled, staged shots so they could meet the rules. The ones I had planned to enter were done in the past and tracking down everyone would have been a royal pain.

And the 11 x 14 worked well you say? So you use the Canon software and not your editing program? In other words, in Lightroom, the setting is print managed by printer.
Thanks again.

Jim,

You will have four choices for print method..
1. Lightroom and the printer driver are both defaulted to managing the color. It does not work well at all!
2. Turn it off in the printer and let Lightroom do it. Canon does not make it clear in the instructions about how!
3. Turn it off in Lightroom and let the printer driver do it.
4. Use Canon's stand alone printing software. It has some interesting calibration methods.
5. Use Canon's Lightroom plug-in.

It seems most do #2. I like what I get with #3.

When you buy the Pro-100 it has a bundle of software you download from Canon Support - Print Studio Pro ties into LR & PS and is a much better print app than the ones built into them. It allows custom sizes etc.

I bought my Pro 100 + paper yesterday from B&H for around the $40 range after all rebates. It was a special offer that expired yesterday.

more good advice.
thank you
printer came yesterday, set it up today, weighs a ton. I didn't think I could carry it up to the second floor, and I couldn't.
Canon software works amazingly well in LR.

Well 43.2 lb isn't quite a ton, but with the size and shape it makes for an awkward load to carry. Esp if still in the box.
I sure am glad my computer, printers etc are in the family room on the ground floor.

Me too friend.
I'm now going on 80 and although my house is all one floor it wasn't fun.
I feel that I got a good deal considering that after rebate the printer was less then one set of ink cartridges for it.
I got it for a back up to the one I'm using now.

I whole heartily endorse the use of Canon's Print Shop Pro with the Pro-100. However, it does not seem to work with Photoshop CC2018. Did a Google search where this issue was discussed, but could never get it to work. It does work with CC2017.
