Hello everyone

I finally switched over to digital last year. I have used minolta equipment for many years. Since I had some many lens I went with Sony A700 to start with and worked up to one of their models and that is an A55 (which I love). Things are coming in smaller packages and this has all the bells and whistles and is much smaller than most camera bodies are today. I am a photographer for Sporting KC, our local MLS soccer team here in the Kansas City area ( KS side). Seems like I started using AF and have stayed with that, but have started putting the camera in a P mode. I shoot 15 frames per second and that makes for a long night to break down the shots that I want. I don't have the funds to purchase a 400mm 2.8 lens ( $6600.00). Looking at 70/300 2.8 at 1600.00. I use a 70/300 4.5 and I have gotten by. The lens to be had for Sony are few and far between> I would like to try and find some long lens that will work on the Sony (old Minolta base) base. The Sony camera has made some great improvements and this camera has things that Canon/Nikon don't have at the moment ( for whatever that matters). I would appreciate any thoughts on your part. I would also like to chat with anyone who has done sports photography. I am looking forward to seeing what happens when I use 1/4000 speed.

Hey D. Sure didn't take long to hit some pay dirt, eh? Good to see you here. Look forward to seeing some of your shots. I'd just suggest that you can find selective areas of interest by using the "Search" facility.

A tip - when you want to reply to a particular person, use the "Quote reply" button and it'll include their post and yours. In case iowatruckdriver doesn't see this and respond, here's the phone number for Christian Photo: (515) 270-8030 for in the morning. :-)

Another good way to contact someone without the world knowing about it is to click on the username on the profile to your left and then click on "pm" and you'll get an editor to send a message and they'll be notified.

You got me excited. The lens turned out to be a 200mm 1.8 and not the 400mm.

THanks
