Pictures I took on a cruise. On shipboard, it was great--there weren't any obstructions to clutter up the sunrise. C&C please

The only problem I can see is the fact that I wasn't there with you. I keep trying to tell people they need to take me on trips with them and pay all my expenses, so I can take their pictures for them. LOL

Thanks for the comment. However, I don't think either my wife or checkbook would approve.

Viewing your downloaded images, I see that the clouds are not in focus. Did you manually focus, auto-focus, or pre-set focus to infinity?

To tell you the honest truth, I don't remember. These were taken in January and my old brain doesn't stretch that far. Lately I have been doing more manual focus. You must have good eyes to see that. Thank you for the information. I will use it in the future.

Out-of-focus clouds are easy to see on enlargement. Below is the Exif info associated with your image. Note that the "Subject Distance" is 5.89-meters.

Hi and thank you very much for sharing that memorable occasion. My thoughts are that you have a record of that cruise and I bet you are on the deck of that ship every time you look at these pictures.

Unfortunately I must agree with Nikonian and it does look out of focus which is such a shame as getting that shot again might not be easy? :)

What do you think has caused the horizon to appear to be curved?

Many apologies for being so negative but trust me when I say I am envious.. The only way I can be envious is by looking at your nice picture and wishing I had been there

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate it. You're the first one on UHH that has actually given me a critique that will help me in the future even if for now I have to drag my tail between my legs.

Hi and thank you very much for sharing that memora... (show quote)

First I don't mind the criticism. If I am going to get any better, I need it. Most every morning and evening we got exceptionally good colors and yes I did take a lot of those pictures. Since I am not in photography to support myself the focus on this particular picture is not a problem. I do however, want to learn how to do it right.

The curvature of ocean, I have been told by another photographer) is the natural curve of the earth. You can see it here since there are no obstructions .

Thank you for looking and commenting.
