And yet you’re posting in this thread because why? You don’t even own a mirrorless camera?!? Hence a wannabe UHH po-po. There’s a ton of stuff for you to go police in the attic...have at it.

If you go back to my reply you’ll see that since he’s going to have to use an adaptor anyways for his lenses I simply offered him another option. Yes I read his post, but I wasn’t telling the op to sell off those lenses, just providing an alternate way of looking at options. Then you came in and got your panties in a bunch.
And yet you’re posting in this thread because why?... (show quote)

Clint, clearly your reading comprehension is questionable, and your social skills are extremely lacking, and you want to push your personal opinions in a derisive manner as expressed in your tag line. When somebody asks explicitly for responses from experienced users of a Canon mirrorless camera, explicitly states "BTW, not interested in Sony, Panasonic, Olympus nor Fuji", perhaps you should respect the OP's wishes. Have you used a Canon M5 or Canon M50?

The OP seems to have appreciated responses that addressed his questions about the Canon M5 from people with real experience. I have used other mirrorless cameras. Some are quite good, but they're not what I'm looking for at this time since they don't fit my needs or desires, so I don't own one yet. I expect that I will at some point in the future, and probably a Canon, but maybe not. I am not qualified to address the OP's question based on experience, so have not offered an opinion on the Canon M5.

Many responses in this thread have clearly been appreciated by the OP, and I've been following it to hear from actual users of Canon mirrorless camera models, or those that have done some significant research, and who's opinions carry some meaningful substance. You are apparently oblivious to the fact that your opinions and the way that you express them don't meet any of those criteria, and you don't appear to be qualified to answer the OP's question.

So other than pushing your own agenda, why are you responding in a manner that is not helpful to the OP?

You’re so easily upset over petty stuff...answer this...what sage advice have you given in this thread...oh wait, you haven’t. I’ve at least picked one up and messed around with one for a while (the advantage of having a real camera store across the street from my office)...enough to know that there are better options out there if you’re going to adapt lenses.

Thanks for you input. I too am 6'4" and the small size is a concern. My every day go everywhere camera is a Canon G15. It's size is miniscule compared to my slrs with battery grips. But I am glad to hear of your positive experience.

Clint, thank you for clarifying that you have actually touched one. That does give you some little qualification to comment, perhaps. I haven't offered sage advice specifically since I don't have some that is specifically relevant to the OP's question. Your opinions, based on limited experience are expressed somewhat over confidently and also some what disrespectfully, while contradicted by actual users with the M5 and Canon lenses and the Canon adapter. Which all leaves your opinions to appear biased, and extremely questionable. Perhaps you should reconsider your approach.

If you don’t like it move on. Am I biased... yes, towards quality gear. Let canon (and Nikon) make non crippled mirrorless system and I’ll gladly change my tune towards them.

I'm trying out the new Canon M50. It's a very cool camera. I bought it with two kit lenses, an adapter so I can use my Canon EF lenses and one more lens. (10 - 22 mm). Testing it for my River Cruise in August. I'm away now but will return in 11 days. The M50 is back home. I'll continue exploring it upon my return. Reviews are very good.

As I am getting older, I have been thinking of going mirrorless for a while. As a long time Canon user, I have a lot of glass so staying with Canon makes sense to me. Any fellow Hoggers using an M5 and how do you like it? Thanks in advance for your answers. BTW, not interested in Sony, Panasonic, Olympus nor Fuji.

Thanks for your input. Please let us know how it works out for you and post some pictures. I like that you mentioned a 10-22 as that is one of my favorite lenses.

I have 30 days for return if it does not appeal to me. As far as weight & size, it's fabulous. I have a hard time shooting anything with any camera other than my two Canon DSLR's (5D MIII & 7D MII). However, their size & weight when my L lenses are mounted, are prohibitive. I'm 81 and still kicking!!

Thanks for the video. From what I've read this review agrees with most of the others. It seems that the M50 is aimed primarily to the entry level market. Although it does have some advanced features. The 4K video issue is of no concern to me. I wish they would make cameras without video added. I haven't needed video for the 64 years I have been into photography and I don't need it now.

I fully understand the weight issue. I am nearly 74 and lugging a slr or two and lenses around is becoming problematic. That is why I started looking at a lighter alternative. Although I doubt I totally abandon my slrs, especially my EOS 3.

PHR is correct, you need an EF to EF-M adapter to use your lenses. I don't have the M5 but I do have the less expensive and arguably superior M50 and I use my EF lenses with the adapter. The camera works great and my only problem with it is size. I'm use to something a bit larger but I'm getting use to it.
Consider the M50 over the M5. It's less expensive, has 4K, the digic 8 processor, a tiltier (not a real word but should be) tilt screen and several other features the more expensive and older M5 does not have.

Thanks for your input. I understand the M50 is a less expensive option but it has features that really do not interest me, such as 4K video and the tiltier screen. I do like that the M5 has two control dials.

I despise my backup camera since it only has one control dial. Never again.

If you have a lot of canon glass that you’re wanting to adapt anyways (since it’s not the ef-m mount) you’d be better off with another brand (yes I read the original post) and using a metabones adapter with a Sony or Panasonic. Simply put Canon mirrorless cameras are nowhere near what the other mirrorless manufacturers can do. But hey it’s your money...just know that there are much better choices out there to be used with your current lenses.

Thanks for your input. I agree it is my money but what I can't get passed is buying an adapter that is nearly as expensive as the camera. From what I have seen metabones adapters cost between $400 and $700.
