Lens Advice

Looking for more reach. I can currently go to 250mm, 1.6x cropped sensor.

Photo enthusiast with some minor selling on the side. Canon EOS 7D. Thinking 150-600mm zoom. Prosumer, Maybe a Sigma or Tamron, Refurbished or used (if decent cost savings)
I've seen about $750-900ish (USD) so far, but can't help but think I can do MUCH better.
Person-to-person type offers are preferred locally, face-to-face. I live in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
Open to all advice, but maybe more so, places to get one. I'm researching myself and probably covering the common sources, but if someone has seen a great deal...
Thanks in advance

As you weigh your options and purpose, consider if you should be looking instead at a 400mm prime or the older 100-400L. Both lenses used will be in your current budget and compare favorably for handling, image quality and price to the 3rd party zooms, especially for your older model 7D. If you're thinking about subjects typically at the focal length maximum and non IS is not a dealbreaker, definitely put the 400 f/5.6L into the mix.

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.
I probably need a telephoto, especially with wildlife. Focal length could be variable, and, at times, I may not be able to maneuver myself much. Also, hand holding will be required at times, so would really like IS.

The Tamron version 1 you should find cheap. If you are fussy about your images, only use it to 500mm and @f8 and use support.
Cheapest I see - https://www.ebay.com/itm/TAMRON-SP-150-600mm-F5-6-3-Di-VC-USD-Model-A011E-for-Canon-EF/323278243860?epid=1937918411&hash=item4b44e28814:g:9ksAAOSwqDhbDSLq
Most are $700.
