Remember family members on Memorial Day.
Mother side of the family. Two off to fight in Mr. Lincoln's Army. One came home and one did not. Off to fight in the trenches Mother's father and his two brothers. All three came home safe. One of my mother's uncle had a son who was kill in France during WWII. MY father had a second couse who was kill during WWI. MY father had a older bother who was in the Army during WWI, but did not go overseas. My father was too young for WWI and too old for WWII. He was 38 when US get into WWII. He was willing to go, but the Navy took one look at his feet and his age said no thank. I would have the same problem as my father with my feet, military would said the same thing to me. Had older two brothers , one was in Vietnam the other was in the Navy but not in Vietnam.
I went to a virtual wall site this morning and pulled up friends and classmates who died in Vietnam. It was good to see their photos as young men and be reminded of what they looked like and how really young they were.
It the old who lead the war and it the young who die in the war. I can't remember who say it: "Only the dead see the end of wars".
Just as I was ending my last replay when I remember a song about a soldier during WWI the song title is "Willy MacBride" ( if I have it right) in the song a line said " He will be always be 17"
