I used my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with a Sigma 14mm f/1.8 which I rented. ISO was 3200 and shutter @ 20 seconds, F number 1.8. The Milky Way came up from the east, the tail of the object was pointing to north east.

Guessing that the sun was below you and to the left, then I'm guessing it's not a comet.
