Memorial Day

A minor tribute to those who gave their lives in war. A few pictures from Pearl Harbor. The day we visited Honolulu it was nearly 100 F. As I have a heat sensitivity problem, I could not stand in the long lines for boarding the USS Missouri or the trip to the USS Arizona Memorial. The two are close neighbors - I was at the bow of the Missouri when I took the picture of the Arizona Memorial. The oil that is still leaking from the Arizona has been determined non-threatening to the environment, so nothing has been done to stop the leak. The residents of Honolulu call it "the tears of those who are still on board the ship."

Enjoyed your series and apropos to this Memorial Day weekend. I am partial to #4, an iconic image with the city in the background. Well done.

Good work! They just closed the Arizona Memorial indefinitely.

It apparently has some serious structural problems.

Thank you, carlysue. I thought it a good idea to remind folks of the meaning and intent of this holiday that originated in 1868. My wife and I each lost an uncle in WWII and I a stepbrother in Vietnam.
