Update problem?

My Dell (big mistake) computer was updated by Win10 yesterday. A long update. Following the completion of this I now get a continual message that says " you are running out of disc space on drive e" I have no drive e unless I attach one of my externals hard drives or a flash drive. Anyone have any ideas why this is? Thanks.

Open File Explorer and click "This PC". I think you'll see you now have an E drive. I believe it's a method MS has used to create a fall-back / work area for the update. I had the message for a day or two. If you right-click the drive, you can select properties and disk clean up. Given the drive and message have gone away on my system, you might need to reboot and / or suffer a few days until it goes away.

What does "File Explorer" say about Drive "E"?
The update program probably created a drive for storage during the update process.

Do you have a DVD drive? That's normally the drive Windows will label "e". You can get that message if you leave a CD or DVD in the drive. Right click on the start button and select Disk Management and see if the unknown drive exists.

Possibly this could be a recovery drive from Dell and the drive could be hidden. From the Cortana search box in the lower left hand corner type "Computer Management". Once the dialog box opens, click on disk management. What do you see?

I am assuming the same for my touch less update that at least they told me about.

I see what you mean. I went there and tried disc clean up and it did nothing. Just sat there.

After searching, I found that this has happened to several people with the April update. There is a way to fix it by editing the registry, but Microsoft is apparently aware of the problem, and will probably fix it with another update. This site has good info:
https://www.windowscentral.com/windows-10-april-2018-update-common-problems-and-fixes#fix_drive_f_problem_windows10_1803
My advice is to wait until Microsoft releases the fix, unless you are comfortable with registry editing. Microsoft also has anarticle describing how to get rid of the message: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/555622/how-to-remove-the-low-disk-space-warning
The Microsoft registry edit seems simple enough.

Had the same thing happen to me only my indicated drive was Drive F. Tried clearing the drive with no results. Same thing keep coming up every time I booted the computer. Also the computer really really really slowed down. Took forever to boot up. Did a restore and that solved the problem. Many people like Windows 10 but my thinking is that it is little better than malware. It talks to M.S. and makes changes to my computer without my permission and that is a definition of malware.

Quit your crying everyone. Win 10 is by FAR the best o.s they have ever offered. I have had many computers using all different systems. Nothing close as reliable and trouble as Win 10
