It's been said that some people go around the world and see nothing. Others go around the block and see everything. Here's my picture, tell me what you see. All comments are welcomed, the good, the bad, and of course the " UGLY". LOL

Obviously an old tree - starting out as one (at the botton) yet limbs going in different directions to claim their own idenity. To different people with two different identies coming together as one (an older couple obviously still in love. :)
It is hard to put into words but this early in the morning that is the best I can do!!
Well done and great story telling!

The first thing I saw was the tree, then the older couple walking hand in hand. Of course that made me think of roots and taking hold, the strength of the tree and the love of the couple, two trees growing together, and two hearts merging as one. I guess to me it tells a story of strength and determination to weather any storm. We do not know or cannot tell what this tree has been through looking at the bright day here, and I think the couple is the same. We do not know what they have been through, but we do know all have survived the rough patches to see a brighter day and grow together. Maybe I am too in depth here, but it is what I got from the photo.

Changing of seasons, a mellowing, the circle of life - the onset of autumn, a metamorphosis - an ending and a beginning.

Sometimes we need a little boost to get our imagination going. By asking what you do see, you have made us stop and study the photo more deeply.... and thats what photography is about, telling a story.. You remind me of my junior high school english teacher during our creative writing course. She once took us to a automotive junk yard then we had to tell what we saw.. The overwhelming comment was Junk Cars lol.... but I saw shapes and color and textures, glass, chrome, rust.. a kalideoscope for the brain. Your photo evokes emotion in people, thats what its all about...

I see a similar "togetherness" as is apparent in my photo here, titled "Possession".

When I look at it again, I see "togetherness" in that the old tree... started out joined but now, many years later... has been growing apart (evidenced by the "V" shape )

Additionally, the older couple have been "joined at the hip" all these years, are still joined and holding hands traveling Life together... but soon... will be parted (as evidenced by their advancing age).

The photo is bittersweet and artistic all-at-once.

I LOVE the unusual texture of that tree!

"Possession"
"Possession"...

Awesome shot! I agree with what the others have said. As has been said by DB, you put the title well which stimulated us to look for the story instead of just the technical aspects. Thanks.

I get the togetherness and growing old thing here, and I adore the picture for that. My mind, however, goes on a different route for reasons unknown......I see a couple who by holding hands can magically clear the path of leaves ahead of them, only to have it re-clutter after they pass. The tree or trees that come together as one posses a soul that is as old as the magical path clearing couple and the harmony between them will be shared throughout the ages.

That's just what I see.

Travis I can't agree with you more! First, I would like to say what I saw in the tree and then what I feel when I look at the picture. I am sure all of us when we were kids played the " What do you see in the clouds game?" What I see here is a male tree on the left with his arms around the female tree on the right. Let me "draw", (and yes it's intended) your attention to the markings on my photo. 1. the male tree's left hand is placed on the small of the back of the female tree. 2. the male tree's right hand resting on the right hip of the female tree. The white outline is the actual feminine form all the way down to her left foot. She is leaning into the male. The trees in my mind are actually embracing each other like two humans would embrace. They are in fact, the " Original Tree-huggers". :-o I think maybe I drink too much coffee that puts my imagination in overdrive! As far as what I feel when I study the photo, well I feel the universal beauty of love manifesting itself through nature and humans alike. I would like to thank everyone for their contribution to this discussion. This story isn't over however. I will let my post simmer for awhile and then I will give everyone some more interesting facts about the photo. Until then, Happy Shooting everyone

Wow! The romantics are out in force and what a delightful change from all those pixel-pushers, techno-babblers on so many threads. Every comment made here stimulates a deeper thought within me about the 72 years now passed but what has yet to come. As Psalm 118:24 says. "This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Amen?
Thanks so much for sharing this Fstop12.

I have to agree here. I think taking snaps of things others don't see is one of the ways to pursue photography.

Love the way you answered what you saw in this photo!! You have a great way with words, and I could not have said it any better if I had tried!

I see faces, and figures of people with some looking like gnomes.
