thanks for the heads up-being a railroad photographer it's nice to know we've got a forum.
What great news. I guess I know what I'm doing the rest of the day. Might we also consider a birds category, too?
It is nice to know there is now a RXR site - I'm not so much of a RXR enthusiast as a history buff.
So fortunate to have 5 RXR museums within 2 hour drive from my house #1 UP in Sacramento,(been there 3 times) #2 Western on Hwy #12 near Fairfield,(been there once-long ago) #3 Rail Town near Sonora,(going on June 14) #4 a narrow gauge in Nevada City(going soon - this RXR closed down just as we moved to the Nevada City area when I was a small child but I remember seeing the rails and cars) and #5 Nevada RXR in Carson city ( I go waaayy back to when this was a working RXR - again when I was 4-5 we moved to Virginia City where my father worked in the Silver mines- the trains were still running to and from Virginia City because of the mines.

How far are you from Ely, NV?
How you are you from Jamestown, CA?
Each of them has a railroad museum.

Jamestown isn't too far away, Ely is a long drive...

Ely NV is quite a ways off - 350+ mi Don't ever remember passing thru it.
Jamestown/Sonora are about 75 mi south - 2+ hours of windy road from my house. June 14th is a Antique air plane fly in at Colombia - close to there so I'm going to "shoot" them both that day
I'm old enough to have some great memories of the trains in the mining towns of the west I lived in while my father traveled from one to another to keep working. I even delivered the news paper - Spokane Review[- to the Great Northern rail yard /round house area for in Wallace,ID - winter of '51

As I remember it - you had a great trip to James town/Rail Town a few years ago.

I would like to make a return visit out west!!
So darn much to see all over the west once one gets north west out of TX- lol - my drive to Sana Antonio on hwy 10 from CA was the most boring trip of my life. too many Subways-
#1 on my bucket list is to spend a couple weeks in the surrounding area of the 4 corners - I am originally from the Durango, CO area but we moved away when I was quite small and the last time I visited the area was 10 days in '57.
