Micro/Macro Shot of Flower

I got out my old manual lens to try on my soon-to-be-sold D5500. I’m surprisingly pleased with the results of my amateurish shot. I’m keeping the lens even if I sell the FE2. It’s a Nikkor 55mm micro.

You mean MACRO! There isn't any microscope shots of that flower which would make it a MICRO.

Look at my title. I know it’s “MACRO,” but when this lens was made it was labeled as “Micro-NIKKOR.” I may be a total amateur, but I can read. 😉

that's quite beautiful. Love the detail. I just got a better macro lens that I'm excited to try. Hope I can do as well as you. :)

Thanks, but I have no doubt you’ll put me to shame.

That is a fine old piece of glass. I still have one I bought in 1970. And yes, Nikon names their’s “Micro Nikkor”

It is a sharp lens although at times you will be limited due to its short camera to subject distance. Many photographers favor the 105mm f2.8 for that reason.
It doubles as an excellent "normal" lens.

Exactly so. I still own mine, mainly for nostalgia as it was the initial lens I bought when purchasing my first F body. I rarely use it since getting the 105 f4 some years later, however. Nevertheless, it's a real work of art in my book. It continues to function flawlessly after all these decades.
